How to use a balm under makeup
- Less than you think: a half-pea for the whole face, warmed between fingertips
- Press it into dry areas (cheeks, around the nose, anywhere flaky), don't rub hard
- Give it ten minutes to absorb before foundation, this is the step people skip
- For a dewier look, mix a trace of balm with foundation on the back of your hand
Why tallow works as a base layer
Tallow's fats are close to your skin's own, so it absorbs rather than sliding around under foundation the way heavier occlusives do. There's no water in the tin, so there's nothing to evaporate mid-morning and leave the flakes exposed again.
